Gloria and Javier decided to join their lives after 5 years of dating, in a winter wedding in Houston’s outskirts, this past December 10, 2016.

I’d like to share with you some tips to an enjoyable wedding experience. Hopefully, from these images, I’m able to show you that you can be lighthearted,  joke around, and have a good time on your winter wedding. Click on the smaller images to see them bigger.

  1. Traditions

Incorporate your cultural traditions to your winter wedding experience. From the decoration and the mariachis, Gloria and Javier’s wedding made it clear they both celebrate their Mexican backgrounds, not to mention they had the very traditional Vivora de la Mar and another game called El baile del Mandilon which I had never seen, but turned out to be hilarious and entertaining not only for their guests, but for them! El baile del mandilon, consists of making the husband do the housewives chores, while she pretends to boss him around, using a belt to rush the chores, should it be necessary! Javier’s father and brother joined the game and helped him out with sweeping the hall, while Gloria chased them around making sure they finished.

     2. Making time for photos

You will have less stress when you a lot time for your photos. I was very pleased when Gloria and Javier told me they had blocked at least 1 hour for photos, which allowed us to go to several spots near Town Square in Sugarland, Texas a good 20 minutes away from their wedding venue, found in Missouri City. However, allowing for this time gave them different looks and backgrounds on their photos as well as allowing them to relax, which is always best for natural candid photos. Gloria is in love with X-mas and Sugarland town square had a perfect X-mas atmosphere.

3. Hire a coordinator

Hire a coordinator! In your long list of “things to pay” for your wedding, you should definitely consider a coordinator, since they help you find vendors, plan a wedding timeline, coordinate meetings with your vendors, set up your reception area, clean up, and even give you ideas to keep your wedding party interesting. I highly recommend wedding planner Lety , she played a big role in making Gloria and Javier’s wedding day run smooth, decreasing the stress on the couple, wedding party, and family members.

4. Have a plan B for photography in case of rain

Winter in Houston can be very kind and offer bearable 70 degree temperatures, which most of us enjoy. However, when planning a winter wedding, you should also consider the possibility of rain. Gloria preferred photos outside for her bride and groom session, but we had a plan B for photos in case it rained.

5. Print your photos!

We live in the era of digital photography, but as many as you may have already found out, saving to USB drives, cell phones, and computers can result in corrupt or lost data when anything happens to any of these devices. I highly recommend you invest in a wedding album and add it to your wedding package as soon as you can. At Viva La Marx Photography, you can count on me to design and print your wedding album for yourself, your parents, and other family members who may enjoy remembering your wedding through the flipping of pages instead of clicking with a mouse!

I hope you enjoyed these 5 tips on a smooth winter wedding! You can find more wedding vendors in at the end of this blog, that may help you plan and look beautiful for your wedding as well. Check it out guys and don’t forget to leave a comment!
